BIIIIIIG POST.

I have recently been underground due to RISD's home tests... I shipped 3 drawings, 2 writing samples and 1 CD off on Saturday and HAD NEVER FELT MORE LIBERATED. Until I went out to find shark fin dumplings with Ralphy and saw more love-dovey, obnoxious couples of every race and age, all canoodling like STDs don't exist. Jesus. H. Christ. Nothing like that to smack you in the face and say, "NA NA NA, you're too unbearable in person for anyone to like!"




...Cough.

Anyway, Ralph and I circled Chinatown four dozen times in search of a restaurant that served shark fin dumplings. There was only one and apparently they weren't serving it at the time. Ingenious, no? We paid for a combo plate and only when we tried to order a second plate (only shark fins this time) did we find out that nothing was available except for pork and vegetable. Ripoff, I say, ripoff - and they were downright tiny. I left NYC feeling rather deprived. Next weekend, you shall see them. YOU SHALL.
This guy, by the way, gave the most heartwarming hug ever. He was out by the Haagen Daazs on Mott Street jumping to keep himself warm and had the biggest smile. What follows next is just a combination of what I've been looking at on the internet (procrastinating on catching up on 10 chapters of AP Euro... yes, 10, filling out financial aid forms and more) and what I wore today.






I couldn't figure out which one to wear.

So I decided on a black dress that I had bought for a performance in which I was Hecate, the goddess of magic, from Macbeth.

a useless weekend.

























i completely wasted my weekend by travelling a total of maybe 18 hours back and forth to pittsburgh for a portfolio review, only to get a 5 minute interview and no discussion about my portfolio.
needless to say, i was not happy.
so after two sleepless hours in penn station waiting for the 6 AM 99S train (that's right folks.... we arrived at 4AM...), getting home at around 7 and thoroughly crashing until maybe 11, getting up, going to the doctor's as a walk-in and not getting an appointment, i feel like i've wasted more than just a day. i've wasted two.
there's just too much to do, and too little time... 3 RISD drawings, 2 writing samples i knew nothing about, an essay and list of activities for MICA, as well as the hopes of putting something more into my portfolio, not to mention all the FAFSA, CSS, and financial aid reports left to be filed... jesus christ, i'm ready to drop everything and become a hermit in arizona.
i WILL be more cheerful next week! ...promise... after college apps and swimming season, it'll be nothing but pretty clothes, warm weather (which has started already) sunny skies and hopefully lots of vodka (but you didn't hear that from me).

swimming makes me itch.



This is from Tuesday... I think. I had fallen asleep at 2:30 in the morning and then woken up at 6:30... wonderful how I wake up early from almost zero hours of sleep but then wake up late when i've gotten six, seven hours. Hmph. Well I had just eaten a few bites of breakfast, and I was standing around waiting for time to pass by when I thought... why not take some pictures? So here you are. Sorry if I'm terribly awkward. Haha.




It's real fur. I know, I know. It wasn't mine.


This sweater is huge... The only thing I wore over it was a big black blazer. God knows I was warm! It was in the single digits today so I bundled up today as well.... Unfortunately, RISD's home test calls me, so I must "bounce" as Jersey City kids say.

huzzah-

welcome to threads of sugar!
so, on a starting note, a favorite-
the other day, i decided to go home early, and with my extra time, i sat around and contemplated what to do; since i had no friends (haha) there was no one online, or no one to hang out with, so i just decided to bake up some chocolate chip cookies (really, you have no clue- shoprite had a sale on chocolate chips the other day, it was great-) and so, i did
in the end, i think i ended up making probably the best cookies i have in a while, which says something, because i'm not a cookie person, because i tend to overbake x: (being they were gone in 10 minutes, flat)
anyway!

chocolate chip cookies
(*sidenotes!)
  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups Chocolate Chips

1. Heat oven to 375°F.
2. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt.
3. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until creamy. Add eggs; beat well. (*i never ever ever time my baking right, as in, i never know when i'm going to bake, therefore don't set butter out to room temperature; instead, i take the butter in the bar, cut it up, put it into a bowl, and pop it into the microwave until it warms to the point of almost melting; trust me, it just makes everything easier, anyway-)
4. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. Stir in chocolate chips.
5. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. (*fuck you if you don't grease your cookie sheet, because you'll never be able to get them off the pan and eat them, defeating the whole purpose !!!)
6. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. (*sometimes i go for 12 minutes, and thats why sometimes they don't come out right, haha. just go with your gut on how you want them done!)


and huzzah! you have chocolate chip cookies.
